Information Architecture (also known as IA) is the process of creating an organized structure for the information on a website. We purposely place the IA process ahead of the design one so that the former phase can guide the latter one. This ensures we are designing with usability in mind, rather than just following an attractive design.
There are three important factors to take into consideration when developing an information architecture for the new website:
- The Audience - who is going to visit the new site? What is their main purpose?
- The Content - what is the subject matter, and how much content there will be?
- The Navigation Structure - how will visitors find the right content once they are on the website?
We will carefully consider each of these factors to create a website that’s user-friendly and intuitive to navigate by applying the latest web usability standards.
